Just starting this page so rough notes only at the moment...

Now seriously considering buying some but do I really want to wear glasses
all the time?

As a person with no vision it would certainly be very nice to have real time
feedback about your environment available but :-

* Think about privacy of others, restricted public areas such as toilets
  medical facilities etc.
* Are people going to be confused about how much you can physically see,
  it's hard enough, and a regular question, 'But how much can you see?'
  to which I personally answer 'Nothing at all' but with these glasses
  and the technology that backs them I could just look and grab! Bloody
  handy when I forget where I left the lawn mower....
* Talking to yourself! consider confusionof standing in the open nattering
  away, some may think you mad!, dont release personal information in public area
  which I think could be easy if talking to third party on device.

Several items I'd never heard of here and still need lots of research;

Split broadly into two types, those that use existing apps on mainstream
devices and others require specialist additional hardware.

Consider those that also need additional subscriptions over the cost of the
hardware;

Pros:-
* Clearly anything that can help reading text and describing environment

Cons:-
* Currently some may be restricted to geography locations - these limitations
  are gradually being removed;
* Equipment to carry and maintain;
* Beware of privacy concerns, using camera in some area's could be tricky,
  Such devices as the Meta glasses have a flashing red LED to show when
  live video is being recorded;
A few mentions on YouTube but no good demos yet. Do sound that they might
be better than Meta's Ray ban offering; Pricing stands at $599 plus a
subscription which is yet to be finalised.
Current ?version 2.8.0;

Looks good but High price;

Ssuspect price for smart glasses is around $399 plus $200 a year support.
More to add shortly inclding YouTube links
Not available yet, according to a Google Gemini question they will probably be
available in early 2026 - maybe linked to release of Android 16;

Android XR;
No guide price yet;

This is a collaberation between Google and Samsung;

Android XR and gemini linked to this project, needless to say the demo's
and reviews on YouTube look impressive.
Software version 14;

Geographic restrictions seem to be much less of a problem now, no restrictions
in the UK - still checking AI feature restrictions (June 2025).
Some features still seem to come and go in the UK - researching API key pricing.

Cheaper than many other offerings, do a google search to find latest prices.

if you are looking seriously at buying these and check more google and YoutTube
reviews;

Battery life of around 6 hours I gather;

Have a friend who has now been trying these for several months
and feedback is very positive (May 2025).

Have had a quick try with them and was very impressed, will probably
purchase soon
Power banks:-

Many types available at a wide range of prices - If out for the day battery
may not be enough so power bank required.
Nothing known yet
Facebook have a few user groups and YouTube has a selection of videos featuring
many aspects of using smart glasses.
Seeing AI 14/03/25):-
 Very impresive, do try the describe mode especially, Once in the app tap
describe at the top of the screen, tap take photo and within a few seconds
you should get a detailed description of what is in front of your camera
down to small items on table tops in view such as batteries and matches.

Lookout;
Similar to Seeing AI above - do try both as one does some things better
than the other.
Battery banks for example.
